Captain Henson:
“While Sonic gijinka designs are familiar, the thrill of bringing my unique ideas to life was palpable. When I shared my concept with Tauraffelle, who was equally intrigued, we eagerly dove into this creative collaboration, especially with the highly anticipated Sonic Movie 3 right around the corner. We used the Sonic Channel Profiles for the pose, layout, and descriptions to maintain a connection to the original series, ensuring our profiles were consistent yet distinct.

As for the design, Tauraffelle took the lead in making almost every decision. All I asked was for the warrior feather from SA1 to be added. This was a deliberate choice to further connect our design to the games, as the feather is a cool addition to Amy’s wardrobe. This inclusion led to removing the headband as Taureffelle saw another head accessory as redundant. I contemplated adding the long hammer but figured keeping the iconic Piko Piko Hammer made more sense. Tauraffelle, with her keen eye for detail, wanted to play into Amy’s acrobatic skills, so she tried to find sports clothes that fit the official design, eventually choosing a tennis outfit for a girly and sporty look.

Footwear is the most striking departure from the official design compared to previous characters. While Sonic and Knuckles were each given footguards, per my request, the aesthetic stayed within the shoes of the games. Tauraffelle’s innovative idea was to give Amy stirrups (standard for gymnasts to wear) and legwarmers (fit the character and help keep leg muscles warm), while the toe rings were added to complement the bracelets and as another girly element, adding a unique twist to the character’s design.

Once again, the description is similar to the official profile, but now, with the addition of her strong loyalty to friends.”
