Chatbox or Guestbook?
I've seen some people use Chatbox or Guestbook and even both on their website. They can do pretty much the same thing, messaging the webmaster/website owner. But i feel like they have different purpose each. I'm still call myself new to this personal website rabbit hole so there some thing that idk. So if you know the answer please lemme know (〃＾▽＾〃)
And lemme know what you prefer more, guestbook or chatbox? Or both?
i think both is good!
i view em as being for different things: (imo) chatboxes are for sending a quick message, just sayin hi, wheras guestbooks are more permanent than that. if i wanted to say hello or compliment a website or just say somethin silly, id use the chatbox! if i wanted to ask a question or compliment something specific, or if i was looking to start a conversation, id use the guestbook!
im not a webmaster (yet >:] ) but if i were to pick one over the other, or if websites could only have one of em, id pick guestbooks. buts thats just me lmao
I have both on my main site because a guestbook is more like a permanent message and a chatbox feels far more casual. If I want to post a direct message to a webmaster without mailing them, I'll leave it on their guestbook, which is slower in nature and (to me) holds more weight. That being said, emails tend to be my top priority if I really want to say something. ^_^

I kinda get the gist of it, the chatbox is more casual while the guestbook is more formal.
I want to have a guestbook as well do you guys have any guestbook recommendation?
I use a chatbox on my main website, but I use a guestbook on my side website, since I check in on my main site much more often! that said, my primary recommendation for a guestbook would probably be atabook.org, which is what I use on my side website! ^^

I'm a baby webmaster so I've only used this guestbook by Meadow it worked really well for what I used it for (my CSS is a little janky but it works surprisingly well). However, I've been thinking about switching to a chat box if anyone has any good recommendations.
