Important Poll: Disabling "save image" capabilities on StarSubculture to protect your art
Hi guys! I want your opinion on something. Since we are sharing our art on here, I was thinking of implementing a plugin that disables the ability to right click > "save image as" functionality on images published to SSC so no one can just easily steal your guys' art (its not fool-proof, but it can help) I originally had this idea brought up to me by Taurefelle, and was thinking it could be a good addition for SSC too. Let me know if you think this would be a good addition, or if you believe such a functionality could cause issues, let me know too.
Hi, I'm new here, i think this will be good! I can just go to ur shop and download everything( of course i wouldn't do this(i'm an artist too)), so this will help a lot :D.
I think having a platform that protects all your art is so refreshing and I'm glad you're thinking of implementing that! However, I do understand if artists would like people to save their images. I'm not sure if there's a way to make protecting artworks optional and let each person decide whether they want it or not while submitting their stuff. But this platform is for websites primarily, so I think everyone who'd like to let people save their art can just add links to their socials for the time being.
In the world where every social media is shamelessly stealing artists' work, it is very nice to have even a small space where you can feel protected >.<
I think this would be best implemented as a setting artists can turn on and off, to determine if they want their art downloadable or not. Personally I do not mind when people download my art, and I think it makes archival efforts in high quality much easier! Plus I know this is based on images, but downloading music and video is nice too.
